Volunteer Safety Training
As a volunteer Supervisor, it's hard to know what exactly what the current Safety Guidelines at Monarch Community School are, let alone enforce them in a way that aligns with the school's Positive Discipline philosophy. This 8-module course uses scenarios and gamification to build confidence in learners' knowledge and skills so they can effectively identify and intervene in out-of-bounds schoolyard behavior. With each successful task, learners earn leaves to feed a monarch caterpillar. By the end of the course, it metamorphoses into a butterfly!
This training module is unusually awesome! Goodness knows how many of these kinds of things I've sat through. This was absolutely the best one.
Also, as a non-binary parent myself, I really appreciate the representation!

Emily created a fantastic course for our school. She was able to dive deep into our program’s needs and use our ideas but run with the project on her own which was amazing. She asked for feedback along the way and incorporated it will into the course. Her course is being used by all of the parents and staff in our program and I’ve only heard positive feedback. Emily is thoughtful, responsive, creative, inclusive, and detail oriented.

Client Santa Cruz City Schools: Monarch Community School
Challenge Before this training, volunteers were uncertain about the safety guidelines and did not know how to intervene. This led to increased risk of physical and emotional harm among students as well as an unnecessary reliance on school personnel to manage schoolyard incidents.
Solution After conducting a needs analysis and working with SMEs to identify learning objectives, I developed a bespoke solution that reflects the client's values. Applying the principles of andragogy to promote engagement and retention, this course guides learners through a series of increasingly complex tasks with real-world applications.
Results After taking this course, average on-the-job confidence increased from 59% to 93% and subject matter knowledge increased by 20%.

AI Prompt Engineering Microlearning
HR professionals can use an AI assistant to draft effective communications by crafting a precise prompt. In three quick lessons, this microlearning teaches HR professionals how to apply the RISEN framework to generate specific AI prompts that accelerate their workflow.

Challenge Many HR professionals are hesitant to use AI because they do not trust its output. Crafting an imprecise prompt can lead the AI to generate communications that need a lot of refinement and don't actually streamline workflows.
Solution I used Articulate RISE to develop a microlearning solution that can be completed in 10-5 minutes, focussing on one specific tool: the RISEN prompt engineering method. It includes realistic scenarios and examples, as well as knowledge checks and learning roadmaps to promote retention.
Results After taking this course, HR professionals can effectively apply the RISEN method to draft a variety of communications with the help of an AI assistant.
